Welcome from James Steward
Dear HIS Community,
This past week, the Peace Riders left HIS early on Monday morning for the mountains and incredible beauty of Yamaguchi. The days were long and challenging. Students were up early each day, cooking and preparing for the long days at our daily campsites. Each day, the HIS Team covered about 100 km, with Mr Barker ensuring that every day included multiple challenging climbs. No climb was too great for our amazing students. The team’s collective fitness and positive attitude was simply superb. All of the year’s training and preparation paid off.
Thank you to Mr B for his stellar support in the HIS van. Mr B even took to cycling a couple of times, though he later mentioned some soreness in his gluteus maximus! Dr Peter Skaer also joined us on Monday and Friday for designated sections of the ride. Finally, thank you to Mr Barker for his superb and unflappable leadership, ensuring the riders remained safe while lending his expert mechanical skills when bicycles required repair. He is also an excellent rider!
Things don’t slow down, as this Friday we look forward to Sports Day!
Sincerely,
James Steward
