The Crane Club interview on NHK.
Principal’s Message
Dear HIS Community
Thank you for attending our Parent Information Evening, either face-to-face or virtually. We hope you enjoy the evening and are able to make a connection with your child’s homeroom teacher, a central part of the team of teachers and staff who support your child at school. Also, it is not just the teachers and staff who support our students. The PTA plays a major role in building a supportive culture at HIS so thank you for your hard work.
Now that school has started again, I wanted to remind everyone of the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. Particularly with the lure of our devices making that decision to go to bed is complicated by that competition of our time. This is particularly problematic for children who may not ‘feel’ tired due to the high interest they have in the game or conversation on social media, for example. It is very important to have a fairly tightly regulated schedule for bedtime to help children make this choice. That and having time to read every day are probably two of the most impactful scheduling supports you can have for your child’s learning at school. I love this sleep series by Matt Walker. Enjoy your weekend.
Kind regards
Damian Rentoule

Crane Club on NHK
Crane club filming will be broadcast from 6:10 pm at Okonomi Wide, NHK
The great work our HIS Crane club has been doing will be recognized in a display at the old Japan Bank building this weekend organized by a Non-Profit Organization, Hiroshima Peace Station (HPS).
The opening ceremony is Saturday morning at 10:00 am so we invite you all to come along to support our Crane Club in this important community event.
Today some of the Crane club members were interviewed by NHK related to the event. The students’ interview will be broadcasted this evening from 6:10 pm in the program called Okonomi Wide (NHK Sogo). Please don’t forget to record it if you cannot watch it live because of the Parents information evening!
