Principal’s Message

Dear HIS Community

I hope you enjoyed our HIS Idol this evening. That was quite a remarkable event with so much variety and with so many students willing to get up on stage. Well done to you all. Also, thank you to our HIS families for coming to our Student-Parent-Teacher conferences. It is a great chance to learn more about your child’s learning journey. We hope you enjoyed the day.

As part of our IB programs, we have a set of skills that are taught across the curriculum. One of these is self-management, including mindfulness (being present, without distractions) and learning to relax, so I thought you may enjoy some practical tips in this TED Talk.

I wonder if your family can find 10 minutes over the weekend to do absolutely nothing and experience some focus, calm and clarity? Sounds like a good idea. Have a great weekend.

Kotaro on the Bike

Kotaro (Gr7) has been featured in a couple of motorcycle magazines. You can see the images below from a recent trip to the US. That does not look like it is for the faint-hearted. Kotaro does a lot of preparation and training for the events, is very successful in the sport and really looks like he really knows what he is doing. Well done and stay safe!

Sports Day on Friday, April 19

On Friday, April 19 HIS will be having the Annual Sports Day at Coca-Cola Stadium. http://en.rugby-japan.jp/guide/map/detail/474/  This has always been a day of fun, competition and performance and we’re looking forward to adding to this tradition this year. HIS Athletic Association Club members are currently planning and preparing this fun event. Students will have the opportunity to work with a multi-age group completing a variety of activities, as well as, testing their best against their peers in Track and Field events. This is an all-day event and a letter with more details will be emailed home.

Here is the order form for the Hoodies if you missed out in the first round. Order Form Orders will be open for one week – until next Sunday – so please order soon. Thank you to the PTA for organizing these great hoodies and you can see how versatile the hoodies are on our dancers in the Crane video this week.
