The Crane, 21 March 2025

It is almost spring and we are starting to see the pop of color! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸What a week of weather extremes! From Monday’s snowfall to today’s unexpected 17°C, we’ve certainly experienced nature’s unpredictability. Despite the fluctuating temperatures, our students remained focused and engaged, demonstrating remarkable dedication to their studies throughout the week. It’s great to see everyone back on campus! A special congratulations to our Grade 5 students for their outstanding assembly presentations – your hard work and dedication in developing your presentation skills are truly paying off as you prepare for the PYP Exhibition. We are incredibly proud of your progress and can’t wait to see all your efforts come to fruition.

We would also like to take a moment to recognize the creativity and dedication shown already with our International Month doorway decorations. The vibrant and imaginative doorway celebrating our diverse community are a wonderful reflection of the spirit of inclusion at our school. In addition is has also been inspiring to see students embracing new sports in support of the countries they represent. Mr. Taylor is especially thrilled to see our EC/KG students taking up the great sport of cricket and hope they can find as much joy in the sport as he did as a child. A big thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support and for helping nurture your children’s curiosity and love of learning. We truly value your partnership! A lot of events are happening for the Secondary students, please keep reading to find out what!

Enjoy the weekend weather! Go outside!

Counselor’s Corner Update! 🌟

This week, our focus has been on stress management techniques to help students develop healthy ways to regulate emotions and manage challenges.

PYP students are exploring simple and effective ways to engage their five senses to calm down during times of stress and/or anxiety. Here are some great videos to continue the dialogue around emotional regulation at home:
The Way I Feel – Read Aloud
Box Breathing for Kids

In MYP, we are engaged in discussions around reframing thoughts and exploring stress-relief strategies such as guided breathing, journaling, and engaging in sports or hobbies they enjoy. Keep the conversation going at home with these resources:
Box Breathing for Teens
Challenging Negative Thoughts Worksheet – A helpful tool to shift negative thinking patterns.

Here are additional techniques that can support stress relief:
Sensory Glitter Jars (Grade 5 enjoyed making these and you can do this with a few simple materials at home!)
Guided Visualization for Relaxation

Encourage your child to try different strategies and find what works best for them! Developing healthy coping skills is a lifelong tool for managing stress and emotions. Let’s continue building these important habits together! 💛✨

There are also still quite a few ways to help! Volunteers are still needed!

(See the Toddle version of this post for the link to the volunteer sheet)

There are still some open slots for students and teachers to perform on stage. Help us show what makes our school great by showcasing our great students!

We are still collecting NEW items to sell in our bazaar. If you have any items that you would like to donate, please drop them off by the school entrance.

We are also sending home a few flyers with each student. Please distribute them in your neighborhood or at any activities that you attend. Let’s spread the word!

Thank you so much for your support as we do the final push toward this amazing event.

On a different note, we will have a PTA Snack Shop on Friday, March 28th. Please send money with your child if they would like to participate!

Have a great spring weekend!
