The Crane, 27 September 2024

What an incredible week at HIS! Our educational experiences continue to surpass expectations. We hosted several busy parent coffees, providing valuable insights into the IB program and maximizing your child’s learning. The attendance was outstanding, reinforcing the importance of our home-school partnership. Next Friday, we look forward to our MYP morning.

After School Clubs Update

Are you ready for October 3rd? First day of After School clubs! Did you sign up??

School Drop-Off is going well!

If you’d like your child to be dropped off at the front gate, Ms. Kristen and Ms. Shefali will greet them and escort them inside for all grade levels.

If you prefer to park and walk your child inside, please be considerate when parking in front of nearby homes.

For safety reasons, we cannot open the playground parking lot.

The safety of all students is our top priority.

Grade 5 Field Trip

On September 24, the Grade 5 class went on a field trip to Mitsujo Tumulus and the Hiroshima University Archaeological Exhibit. We were excited to explore and learn more about our unit of inquiry on civilizations. At Hiroshima University Museum, we visited an exhibit filled with artifacts found in the area and asked questions about them. After exploring the exhibit, we headed to Mitsujo Tumulus, an ancient burial mound from the Kofun period. As we walked through the site, we saw the tombs of ancient people, which was fascinating. We were curious how they fit into such small coffins. Then, we visited a nearby library, where we learned how people from that time built the keyhole-shaped burial mound and what materials they used. For the last few hours, we ate lunch and played in a nearby park. It was a day full of fun, learning, and great memories, leaving everyone inspired and excited for our next field trip.

Feeling Stressed?

It’s not just about kids learning to be calm and relaxed; it’s about learning the qualities of compassion, creativity, and kindness. It’s about understanding that thoughts and emotions don’t have to rule our minds. It’s about giving kids the opportunity to grow up being comfortable with who they are. Try out the link from Headspace.
