Welcome from James Steward
Dear HIS Community,
This week’s highlight was centered around our Super Saturday at HIS. Student Led Conferences were held in the PYP. College counseling took place throughout the day with Ms Kamibeppu and Mr Washington. Mr Tim’s Art Exhibit was exquisitely showcased. Finally, Takako sensei led an outstanding Spring Concert that left the audience in awe. We were also able to share well wishes with some of our G12 Graduates at the end of the concert. Jundai (G12) shared the final encore with an outstanding performance of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence on piano. Thank you to the PTA Wolfpack for serving delicious ice cream treats as everyone gathered outside.
The Peace Riders will leave campus Monday morning for their adventure into the mountains of Yamaguchi. Mr Barker and Dr Skaer have been training our riders consistently since the beginning of the school year. Please wish the team good luck and safe travels. This will be a gruelling ride with plenty of steep mountain climbs.
The IB DP Exams are now complete. Congratulations to the G12 students and Mr Smith our DP Coordinator and all invigilators that helped support our wonderful students.
Please remember that Monday is an HIS holiday.
Sincerely,
James Steward

Letters to the Editor from Tsukihiko and Claire (G11)
Claire and Tsukihiko wrote great letters to the “Chugoku shinbun” editor as part of a task in their Japanese class, and they were recently published. The letters were about the opinion of strategies for dealing with SNS and smartphone usage. Excellent work Claire and Tsukihiko! (Junko sensei)
Baby Bird Lands on Masayo Sensei!
Masayo sensei proved yet again that she has the kindness and warmth of a real life Disney princess when a baby bird landed on her during outdoor play time. No baby birds were harmed in the process, and the family was reunited in the end!
