Principal’s Message

Dear HIS Community

We have been making good progress with the construction plans of the new building that will replace our Annex. We have had a number of suggestions related to the original plan from different members of the community and Hebel Haus has worked with us to incorporate those changes into the design. Currently, the plans are looking like this: Current draft of plans. Thank you for all the input from the school community.

As we move into the Winter Break, I wonder how busy we are all going to be. This TED Talk is a good look at how we pace ourselves and a good argument for enjoying some slower moments. Have a great holiday.

Korean Culture Day

As discussed at the recently held PTA meeting, we will be having a Korean Culture day so we are really looking forward to this. Thank you to all the parents involved in this great event.

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA (through Kumi and our other parent volunteers) was spreading holiday cheer today and made up some goodie bags to launch us into winter break. Thank you. Also, Thank you to Tom for that wonderful pear dessert. You can see that in the Crane Video. Also thank you to Santa for visiting today. Much appreciated.

Regarding the PTA planning committee nominations. We received one nomination so thank you to Sayaka Hirata who is fortunately willing to be Treasurer. We are still looking for volunteers to sit on the planning committee, by the way. As Treasurer, Sayaka Hirata will now be able to pay out expenses for the ongoing PTA activities that are happening around the school. This is great news.

MYP Assessment Introduction for Parents

At HIS on Friday, January 24, from 5 pm-6 pm we will hold an MYP Assessment Introduction for parents new to the MYP, or soon to be new to the MYP so Gr4/5 parents will find this workshop of interest as well. Japanese translation will be provided.
