Dear HIS Families
I hope you all have a great long weekend. Thank you to all of the PTA members who came in this week to organise the storage spaces. It was a big job and the area is looking great thanks to your hard work.
As an IB school, the Learner Profile guides our thinking when developing students’ experiences. The Learner Profile is a list of ten attributes that we foster and develop in all of the IB programs; attributes that represent the lifelong learner that will thrive in the 21st Century. Over the next few issues of The Crane, I would like to explore a few of these attributes. You can find the descriptions here: ■IB learner profile/IBの学習者像 My first questions to you as parents would be, which attributes would be most important to your family? What reasons would you give? Is there one that you would do without for your child? Make sure that you read the descriptions, as the labels can be misleading. We’ll continue the conversation next week.
I hope you all enjoy the video.
Regards
Damian Rentoule, Principal
Potential HIS Boarding/Homestay Questions
HIS is currently looking at a potential boarding/homestay option for next year for Grades 9-12 and we would like to ask two brief questions to help us in the planning process. Currently, we are considering two potential options:
1. A family-style supervised boarding house. Boarding fees (Approximately ¥1,400,000) would be paid to HIS.
2. A homestay option where a student would resides with a HIS family. Homestay fees (Approximately ¥800,000) would be paid to the family to cover expenses.
We would like to consider both full-boarding (full semesters) and weekly-boarding (weekdays only) options. The fees above are an initial estimate only. We are just exploring this idea at the moment. Thank you for helping us with these two brief questions.
HIS Facebook
Just a reminder that HIS has a Facebook page that we update regularly with images of life at school. If you happen to have an image that you would like shared please forward it to me at drentoule@hiroshima-is.ac.jp and I will be happy to post.
